Djarrak Miyalks have won their way through to the Grandfinal after delivering their best performance for the year against the pacey Ngukal side. The Miyalks held their nerves and refused to panic after an electicfying start from the opposition which slammed home 2 goals into the wind in the first five minutes. From then on the Brown and Gold army skilfully brought the game back to their own style of play by shutting down the oppositions explosive running through well rehearsed structured setups.
The Miyalks went into the final quarter 3 goals up and extended the lead despite kicking into the wind. Goal kicking practice during the week paid off in the best possible way with the Miyalks putting the opposition to the sword when lining up the sticks. Emotions erupted at the final siren as the Miyalks realised what they had achieved after so much hard work through out the year. Bayini thrived as designated Captain and played a sensational game putting on a clinic all over the ground. Kaya was missed in the first quarter but made up for it with a best on ground performance. Kaya collected 10+ contested balls and kicked brilliantly breaking the lines on many occasions and marking strongly.
Kerry really stepped up and the pocket-rocket exploded through the packs with a number of incredible plays that lifted the crowd to their feet. Shanita, Rokuwuy, Ashanti and RakRak were brilliant kicking long and dominating the marking contests. Emily and Nikki again starred along with Shannon in the last line of defence.
Next week Djarrak Miyalks have a chance to make history by being the first permiers ever in the Womens GAFL. They will be challenged by an outstanding Gopu lineup and the stage is truly set for a classic match between the two best sides all year. The Djarrak men will face off against Gopu in the Mens GF following the women. The Miyalks will be focussing at training on continuing to play our style of structured play and discuss tactics to help being overwhelmed by what will be an enormous crowd in excess of 1000 screaming fans. We urge all supporters to get along early for the Miyalks match and watch this history making event!
