RAYMOND TAKES CHARGE

May 26, 2017

Steven Raymond will take the reins as Senior Coach when Djarrak Football Club take on Nhulunbuy Baywara Football Club at Hindle Oval tomorrow at 2pm. The Gove AFL ladder leaders have multiple enforced changes that include Dale Dhamarrandji, Raven Marika, Nelson Bara and Junior Jaragba in Melbourne with the Footy Means Business Program where they play on the MCG tomorrow, Luke Bath unavailable, Ishmael Marika injured, Billy Wanambi suspended and Coach Hayden Rickard seconded to Geelong Cats Football Club and supporting the Djarrak FC contingent in Melbourne. Bernie Price is in Queensland for Clontarf Foundation professional development.

Raymond will call on experienced campaigners Cameron Stokes, Michael 'Longy' Maymuru and captain Djayminy Marika to enforce the standards that have served the club well over the first 5 games. Raymond highlighted an improved Nhulunbuy Baywarra FC when asked for his thoughts on the 2pm clash. He said "We can't afford to take this weeks opposition lightly. Regardless of their ladder position, I have observed improvement within their squad each week and if we don't tick the boxes, we will end up on the wrong side of the ledger".

Raymond has selected Rhys Mulholland who will provide a physical presence and Joel Ikupu brings four players from Groote Eylandt as part of the GEFL and Djarrak FC relationship. Grant Maymuru will continue his key position role at centre half forward and will be a key in driving the teams starting points at stoppages with his voice and experience. Ramingining player Joseph Smith debuts after relocating to Nhulunbuy.
