In football news, the Darwin Buffaloes suffered a frustrating loss to Southern Districts in the 2:00pm Premier League game held at TIO Stadium yesterday. The 11.15.81 - 14.9.93 result sees Buffaloes needing some positive outcomes before the Christmas break in order to remain in touch with the Top 5. Rirratjingu Football Program player Brendan Marika kicked two goals in the match and was mainly employed through the forward line. With instrucytions from Assistant Coach Nathan Wills to improve his chasing pressure on turnover ball, it was a much improved showing for the Galiwin'ku based Marika. In a sign of his dedication, he will remain in Yirrkala through till the Christmas holiday period and the program hop to pick up the services of Carlos Gurruwiwi in the new year.

Dale Dhamarrandji played Division 1 in the late game where the double blues were outshone by reigning premiers Tracy Village 6.10.46 - 13.16.94. Buffaloes were in touch during the first quarter but a failure to roll off to match up free opposition players in the second quarter meant the result got away in essence before the halftime break.

A contingent of Yirrkala Schoolboys will don Darwin Buffaloes colours next week whilst they base themselves in Darwin for 7 days. The group includes BJ Mununggurr and the Under 14 Light Blue team are excited to have our 'Baby Gatapanga' return to Darwin.
