The Rirratjingu Football Program welcome Dale Dhamarrandji to our system and he will compete for Darwin Buffaloes FC in Division 1 in Darwin on Saturday. Dhamarrandji has been sought out for a mentor role within the RFP and he is ideally suited to this with his off-field activities lending to the type of example the junior group can take real notice of.
Hayden Rickard, RFP Coach, was thrilled with the addition of Dhamarrandji to the RFP. He said "Dale is a fantastic young bloke with his head screwed on. He ticks a number of boxes for us with the first being he is just a really good person. He's kicking goals off the field with his apprenticeship with Rio Tinto. I would say he is driven to succeed and that is exactly the type of person our 17 to 20 age group can aspire to replicate in whatever path they choose. He added "The RFP has had really high standards during our first year, now we are looking to improve further in version 16/17. Dale can really help drive the improvement further".
Dhamarrandji is currently completing a heavy diesel mechanic apprenticeship with Rio Tinto. He was recently featured in the SPIRIT magazine, an internal online source for Rio Tinto employees, and his story is being read globally on his enjoyment and successes in his role to date.
A gifted footballer, Dhamarrandji will add some starch to the back line for Division 1. With the ability to match up against opposition talls, he is also able to rebound and will be an asset with communication a strength.
The Rirratjingu Football Program is sponsored by the Rirratjingu Aboriginal Corporation.
