A relieved Djarrak Football Club won an entertaining encounter against a fired up Gapuwiyak Football Club outfit at Hindle Oval in fine conditions for on Saturday 25 June for Round 8 Gove AFL action. Both teams were brilliant at times with a number of goals produced through excellent rebounding length of the field efforts.

Djarrak FC was well served by Shaun Mununggurr, Ricky Rose and Simon Ellis in an see sawing match that was a treat for spectators that crave goals. The defensive players however had a busy game throughout with both midfield's precise in their delivery into the kill zone at either end of the ground.

The brown and gold army eventually wrestled control of the match in the last quarter to take the spoils in a match that could have gone either way. Djarrak FC Coach Hayden Rickard was pleased with the result however found frustration in lack of accuracy if front of goals "The group really responded today, we were short on numbers and were lucky that we could call on Rhian Oliver and Stuart MacLean to do a job for us today. We will take that win, we still sit outside the top four on percentage so its a major concern that we kicked 18 behinds today. Our goal kicking sits at less than 40 percent, our team orientated habits have really improved out of sight, we fix our accuracy on goals and we suddenly become a really dangerous football team". He added "A number of our players stood up today, none more so than Longy Maymuru. His combination with Ashley Brando has really developed into a one-two punch with both smalls dangerous on the ball or up forward".

Djarrak FC will take on big movers in the competition Gopu Football Club on Saturday 2 June at 4pm.
