Djarrak Football Club travel 220km by road for an away game against Gapuwiyak Football Club on Saturday. The game shapes as a must win scenario in order for the Yirrkala based side to remain in touch with the top four ladder positions on the Gove AFL Premiership points table.

The club was fortunate to have AFL legend Michael "Magic" McLean at training this week. Mago preached teamwork, following your disposal and unrewarded running and facilitated a number of sessions that the team embraced. Djarrak FC Head Coach Hayden Rickard found value in the guest appearance "It was a pleasure to have Mago at training tonight. So much footy knowledge to sponge off one of the best coaches in the Territory - he has form rebuilding club culture, that's precisely what we ourselves are doing here. It was a very simple message about working with or without the ball. We take the message onboard, we improve our team based habits, we can really improve as a team over the next 13 weeks".

A number of players have cultural obligations this coming week and will be unavailable for the clash. Outs include Djarrak stalwart Micheal 'Longy' Maymuru who was massive for the Brown and Golds last week. Max Tippett continues his rehabilitation and will again have line coaching responsibility for the defensive zone where he will be based for the remainder of the season.

Brendan Marika continues his duties for Djarrak FC out of Galiwin'ku and has built a combination with Shaun Mununggurr that continues to build into the season. Newcomer Nash Boessi plays his first game of AFL.

Conditions are expected to be wet over the weekend and will soften the Gapuwiyak Football Ground which will mean a real focus on ball delivery and communication this week.
