Djarrak Football Club enter Round 2 Gove AFL yet to register a win following their Round 1 loss. The team has focused on contested possession this training block with a view to strengthening this facet of play moving deeper into the season. Communication continues to be an issue and a constant work on for the side.
Rhian Oliver has been added to the coaching staff and he has spent a portion of this weeks training with our ruck men and on ballers in a bid to improve our efficiency in option taking and moving the ball out of congested areas. Ricky Rose and Shaun Mununggurr will be integral to the teams flow through the middle and will both look to push forward after classy debut games last weekend.
Max Tippett will lead Djarrak FC this week after captain Djayminy Marika pulled up with soreness following his first game back from a serious broken ankle suffered in 2015. Tippett will be supported by members of the leadership group that includes Jayson Wilson, Ricky Rose and Joshua Marika. Former captain Benji Maymuru will be available for selection this week after travelling in from homelands.
Djarrak FC Head Coach Hayden Rickard will again name a number of young players in order to secure the future of the club through a structured development plan that introduces players to pocket positions before rotating onto the ball when a bit of sting is taken out of the contest area at the back end of games.
